Two Definitions of Racism

Definition 1 - For our Discourse Community:

Racism happens when people who look different or have different religion think that they are better than a specific “group” of people who looks different or have different kinds of religion. Racism has existed in the past, but it also happens almost everywhere now. For example, Rosa Parks wanted to stop racism. Many people were hurt during the act of racism, she broke the rules to stop it. One day, she sat in one of the front rows oin a bus, a white person asked her to move, but she did not do so. She was sent to jail, but people started to realize that they could stop racism. Racism can cause many problems to our world because it takes peace and balance away. I think that racism is an attitude that we should not embrace; it makes our world a mess. It can even cause war and segregation. Humans are all the same, no matter how he/she looks, no matter what he/she believes in. Racism is harmful to our whole world; It makes our world unequal. We should respect everyone.

Definition 2 - For the General Audience:

Racism is a kind of notion or idea that people have about how a person looks can affect their place in the society. People sometimes commit racism because of a group of people’s skin color or religion. Nowadays, the act of racism is not so common anymore, but racism still happens. Racism is a very unpleasant and unequal problem that we have; it caused a lot of chaos and commotion. It also brought up wars and segregation, which are both very harmful to us. An act that people made to support racism is segregation, it is an act of separating a group of people that have some sort of differences on how they look or their religion that another group of people don’t like. Then, people will separate public places and things people use into two “groups”; people need to use things that are made for their “group”. And when one group will be “better” than the other the worse treated group can make rebellion. The act of racism is everywhere in the world; different people have different perspectives of the world. In my opinion, if we don’t have racism, the world would be more peaceful. People will not argue as much.
